"Acne"

Soy is absolutely poison - don't eat or drink it. This article suggests going to a doctor and getting allergy testing or shots - worthless. If you have acne and you plan on following the suggestion of this article for the 2 weeks (it would be a good idea), I would suggest when you return to milk drink RAW milk and you WILL NOT see acne return!!! www.raw-milk-facts.com Responsible farmers who are producing raw milk do not use extra hormones so the amount that you get in the milk will be manageable by the body because the nutritional benefits are great!!!
Edit: If to lazy to read. The point is they milk pregnant cows and give hormones to all of them. So it gets into milk and causes acne.
I just read an interesting study that followed thousands of teenagers on diets consuming different amounts and kinds of cow milk.
Basically any kind of cow milk drastically increased acne in the teenagers. By as much as 44 percent.
They scientists blamed it on the steroids that get into the cow milk. When consumed the steroids get into teenagers bodies (who already have higher levels of steroids from puberty) these extra steroids from the milk then cause the sebaceous glands to go into overdrive!
How do steroids get into milk? Two ways:
1. In the USA hormones and steroids are injected into cattle to increase their meat and milk yield. Illegal in most other countries due to the health risk to humans, since the steroids are passed into the cow's milk in the same way certain drugs are passed to babies in mother's milk.
2. Cows are milked even when pregnant. Pregnant mammals have super high levels of hormones in their bodies which are passed into the milk.
The conclusion is one I already knew. Through trial and error I found out that I could not even drink organic milk that came cows who were not given hormones. Cow milk is mixed with hundreds to thousands of other cows milk before it is pasteurized and bottled.
So I switched to soy milk and soy dairy substitutes. In a 4 month period I had not one pimple. Around New Year's I had a bowl of ice cream and broke out with 3 pimples the next day. Since then I've not had any dairy and had no pimples.
Even before I stopped dairy several months ago, I first did tests of restricting dairy for a few weeks at a time. I did this several times and each time the results were the same. Dairy was absolutely the trigger for my acne.
Even consuming pastries and baked goods that have a lot of milk or cheese can cause a few pimples the next day. But this only happens when I eat a lot. I can get away with one slice of pizza or baked cheese. For some reason if the cheese is cooked I find it's much less harmful.
I asked a chemistry professor and he said that the heat of cooking breaks down the steroids so that is probably why I can tolerate cheese on pizza. Although milk is heated when it is pasteurized it is only for a few seconds before it is rapidly cooled down.
The level of hormones in unpasteurized milk is also unimaginably high. The amount of hormones and steroids injected into cattle would kill most humans.
I advise everyone to at least try restricting dairy for a month or two. At worst it will do you no harm and at best it will cure ur acne. Take it from me. Even after Accutane I was still getting acne! It was the MILK!
Furthermore, a poor diet and the lack of essential vitamins, anti-oxidants and minerals can definitely lead to poor overall health and eventually acne. There are even some foods that can be linked to increasing the chances of acne development, such as:
Milk - the increased use of hormones in dairy cows has been linked to the increase of hormones and hormonal by-products in milk. Though this link is still yet to be confirmed by on-going research, many dermatologists support the idea that those affected by acne should try to refrain from consuming dairy products to see if their complexion will improve.
Refined and Processed Foods - eating more of these foods leads to high glycemic, carbohydrate and saturated fat in-take, which in-turn increases the creation of fats that are secreted as sebum.
Seafood - currently contains high levels of iodine. Iodine is known to make existing acne worse.
Deficiencies in Nutrients - especially Vitamin E deficiencies. In recent studies, patients with sever acne tend to have lower levels of vitamin E circulating in their bloodstream than those that are not affected by acne. In addition, people suffering from acne tend to have lower blood levels of vitamin A.
Can a seemingly healthy and innocent product like milk cause acne vulgaris (common acne)? Surprisingly, the answer for many people may be yes.
Around 80% of American teenagers have acne, while in countries on traditional diets that do not include dairy products there are virtually zero cases of acne. However, as soon as a culture becomes westernized and starts including milk and cheese in the diet, acne appears. Japan is an example of this.
Of course there may be other factors at work, but there are two reasons why milk and other dairy products may contribute to acne.
First, many people do not digest milk products well and their bodies react by dumping many of the elements that they cannot digest through the lungs in the form of mucus and the skin in the form of acne vulgaris.
Second, even in people who can digest milk just fine, there may be a reaction to the hormones that are believed to be in milk. The main cause of teenage acne is said to be hormone imbalance, and milk these days probably contains a lot more hormones than it did 50 or 100 years ago. Here’s why.
Any female human or animal that is pregnant naturally has more of certain hormones in her body. In the wild, this doesn’t matter because milk is not used until after the baby/calf is born, when the excessive hormones are no longer there. But in present-day commercial milk production cows are kept pregnant almost constantly, to make them produce more milk. Because of this, the excessive female hormones are believed to get into the milk that we drink, probably contributing to acne and possibly other problems such as obesity, breast tissue forming on men, and even breast cancer in older women.
So if you have acne, consider staying off dairy products completely for 2 weeks. This takes some planning because dairy products can be hard to avoid. You will have to check the ingredients in every food or drink that goes in your mouth. Milk powder can appear in places you would never expect it.
If you are a teenager and your mother says that you need milk, explain that this is just a 2-week test, and why you are doing it. She was young once and she probably understands more than you think! Tell her that you can still have eggs, and you can take a calcium supplement, but for these 2 weeks you will have no milk, butter, yogurt, cheese or anything containing them.
During these 2 weeks be prepared for your acne to get a little worse before it begins to get better. You may be detoxing for the first 3-7 days. You may also develop a cough or cold symptoms.
After 2 weeks, has your skin improved? Very likely the answer will be yes.
Now you can informally test your dairy tolerance by drinking a glass of milk or eating a normal portion of cheese. If you are dairy intolerant you may have an immediate reaction such as blocked or runny nose, or a headache soon after. You may have diarrhoea or a very loose BM the next day. Or you may have no immediate symptoms but if you go back to eating dairy regularly your skin may break out worse than ever. If as a result of this informal test you believe that you may be milk intolerant, have your results checked by taking a food sensitivity test with a nutritionist.
If you had a reaction, stay off dairy for another 5 days and then test yogurt. Some people can digest yogurt but not other milk products.
If there was no reaction, you are probably not sensitive to milk. You may still want to cut down your consumption to avoid the hormones that it is believed to contain, but don’t stress out about little bits of milk or cheese in foods that you eat.
Be sure to get enough calcium through other food sources or supplementation, and consult a doctor or dermatologist about treatment for severe acne vulgaris.
My advice to all of my patients is that milk IS NOT the best source of calcium. Green fruits and vegies are!!! I have had plenty patients who have consumed milk all of there lives and develop osteoporotic or osteopenic (weak bones). The commercials are a lie - milk does a body BAD!!! You do not need calcium supplements, just good quality foods that have calcium!!!
